Location
Old Town Chicago Bed & Breakfast Inn, at No. 1442 N.
North Park Avenue, is on a 2 block long north / south street, 300
west on the Chicago grid, two blocks west of Wells Street and one
block east of Orleans Street. The east / west cross streets are
North Avenue, IL Route 64 on the north (1600n) and Schiller Street
(1400 north) on the south. You will recognize us as a 40-foot tall
red brick building with a wrought iron fence and plantings on the
parkway, a driveway cut in front surrounded by yellow bumper
guards and a black garage door just off the sidewalk. The
"front" door entrance is on a path on the north edge of
the building. Ring the bell.

Directions - Public Transportation
If you plan to use Chicago's excellent public transportation
system to get around town, consider buying a visitor pass from the
dispensing machines at the airport or Amtrak station. Otherwise,
buy a standard fare transit card for $1.50 and, if needed, a
transfer card for an additional 30 cents. All rapid transit cars
have route and station maps over the doors where you can look for
your stop. From the airports, the end of the rapid transit line is
at the airports, so board the next train departing. If traveling
by bus, ask the driver to call your stop.
From O'Hare Airport, a transfer is
needed. Follow signs to Trains to City. Take the Blue Line to
Damen Avenue. Exit to street level, turn left and then bear
left to North Ave. (Illinois Route 64) without crossing a street.
Board the No. 72 North Avenue bus (the only North Avenue
bus line) using your transfer, and travel about 2 miles east to
N. North Park Avenue. Walk south (straight ahead) to the
B&B at No. 1442.
From Midway Airport, a transfer is
not needed. Take the Orange Line to the Chicago Loop, Clark /
Lake stop, exit the Orange Line train and board the next Brown
Line train. Take the Brown Line to Sedgwick (the third
stop from Clark / Lake). Exit to street level, turn left to North
Avenue, a few doors to the north, turn right (east) onto North
Avenue, walk two blocks east (past Orleans Street) to N. North
Park Avenue, and turn right onto North Park Avenue to the B&B
at No. 1442.
From the Amtrak Station, exit at
South / East Exit and walk east on Jackson Blvd. to Wells Street,
about 2-3 blocks. Turn left (north) onto Wells Street and walk 1/2
block to the Wells Street / Quincy Street "El"
stop. Take the Brown Line to Sedgwick (the third stop out
of the business district, also called the "Loop" because
the elevated trains loop around). Exit to street level, turn left
to North Avenue, a few doors to the north, turn right (east) onto
North Avenue, walk two blocks east (past Orleans Street) to N.
North Park Avenue, and turn right onto N. North Park Avenue to the
B&B at No. 1442.
Directions - Taxi
Advise the driver of our address and location as stated at Location,
above. A printout of the Location and Neighborhood Map might come
in handy. While N. North Park Avenue is easy to get to, the street
is only 6 blocks long and does not necessarily have the great name
recognition enjoyed by all surrounding streets. Driving time from
O'Hare and Midway airports is about 30 minutes and should cost
roughly $30. Driving time from the Amtrak station is about 10
minutes.
Directions - Auto
From I-90/94 (Kennedy Expressway) coming from the north or
south, exit at #48B, North Avenue (Illinois Route 64), and
head east (if coming from the north, turn left, if coming from the
south, turn right). Travel about 1 1/2 miles to N. North Park
Avenue. You will pass a Home Depot on your left, cross a leg of
the Chicago River, pass a Crate & Barrel on your left, pass a
Marcello's Father & Son restaurant on your right, pass
Sedgwick Street (a stoplight street), pass Orleans Street and come
to N. North Park Avenue. Turn right (south) to the B&B at No.
1442.
From IL Hwy 41 (Lake Shore Drive)
coming from the north or south, exit at LaSalle Drive / North
Avenue, (Illinois Route 64), travel west on LaSalle Drive
through Lincoln Park, bear and turn left (south) onto LaSalle
Drive and immediately bear right as you will need to turn right
(west) one block south onto North Avenue. Turn right (west) onto
North Avenue and immediately bear left, as you will have to turn
left onto N. North Park Avenue. Go past Wells Street, and turn
left at the first opportunity, onto North Park Avenue. Travel
south the equivalent of a city block to No. 1442.
From O'Hare Airport, follow signs
to "City" or "Chicago," I-90/94 going
south. Follow Directions - Auto above for I-90/94 coming
from the north.
From Midway Airport, drive north
on Cicero Avenue to I-55 (Stevenson Expressway), merge onto
1-55 and follow signs to I-90/94, merge on to I-90/94 W via
exit #292A toward Wisconsin, exit at Ohio Street, #50B,
turn slight left onto W. Ohio Street, turn left onto N. LaSalle
Blvd./LaSalle Street, turn left onto Schiller Street,
two blocks north of Division, pass Wells Street and Wieland Street
and turn right onto N. North Park Avenue to No. 1442.
